I really wanted to surprise Lana. I told her we were heading out to dinner and along the way, we would collect her bonus Christmas gift which hadn’t reached on time. She was convinced it was going to be a puppy. Unknown to her, however, I had arranged for a surprise photoshoot and a beautiful setup waiting at the beautiful park. On the day of the proposal, I was a bit nervous because we had to switch venues about three hours before I popped the question but Jackson Square turned out to be the perfect location. Here are three tips for writing the perfect love note.

1. Be Yourself

Whether you’re writing your own or using our love note guide, let the words you choose reflect your personality. Stick with your style of words – use pet names or inside jokes. Use words that you’re both familiar with when speaking.

2. Express your thoughts

Remember your love note is about all the activities you enjoy doing with her, so express what it is about her that draws you to her. Let her know why she is the perfect one for you and touch on some of those little things that you absolutely adore about her. You can even include lyrics from her favorite songs.

3. Presentation Matters

While it can be important to stick to your writing style, it can also be vital to give your love note one last read-through before giving it to her. Your love note should make sense and have as few spelling errors as possible. Placing it nicely into a gift box or a beautiful card is fine. The nicer it looks, the more she is going to realize you have put serious thought into what you have written and have to say.
